AMA Foundation Establishes the Physician Disaster Recovery Fund
Amid the devastation inflicted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria are doctors who need to quickly rebuild their medical practices in order to continue serving their communities. As a result, the American Medical Association Foundation (AMAF) has created the Physician Disaster Recovery Fund.
All contributions to the AMAF’s Physician Disaster Recovery Fund will go to physicians affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Contributions will be used to re-establish the delivery of patient care in physician practices in federally designated disaster areas damaged by these hurricanes. This may include replacing equipment, rebuilding patient records and fulfilling other urgent needs that will enable affected physicians to begin treating their patients again.

We are working directly with the Texas Medical Association Foundation and the Florida Medical Association’s Foundation for Healthy Floridians in their applicable regions.
When making a gift to the AMAF’s Physician Disaster Recovery Fund, donors can designate to which fund they would like their donation directed (to physicians affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma or Maria), or they can choose to have it designated to the fund where it is needed most. Donors can know with confidence that the entire donation will go directly to support physicians and their ability to provide care.
